Overview:
The 2010 OPPS final rule was released on October 30th and published in the

This final rule affects more than 4,000 hospitals and 5,000 ASCs that receive
payment for outpatient services under the Outpatient Prospective Payment System
(OPPS). Be ready for these changes and the impact they will have on your
facility.
The agenda for this
2-hour program will include the
following topics:
-
Payment rate increases for hospital outpatient and ASC services
-
Coverage of new pulmonary and intensive cardiac rehabilitation
services furnished in hospital outpatient departments to Medicare beneficiaries
-
Payment to rural hospitals for kidney disease education services
furnished in outpatient departments to Medicare beneficiaries with Stage IV
chronic kidney disease.
-
Therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals and brachytherapy sources
-
New payment adjustment for the hospital pharmacy overhead costs of
separately payable drugs and biologicals
-
CMS's modified requirements for physician supervision to ensure that
hospital outpatient services are appropriately supervised by physicians or other
qualified practitioners
-
Policy changes and payment rates for services provided in ASC’s
-
Hospital Outpatient Department Quality Data Reporting Program (HOP
QDRP)
-
Hospital Acquired Conditions (HAC)
-
Miscellaneous payment changes in 2010 (anti-emetics, stem cell
